Last Thursday, Dairyland Power Cooperative announced the closing of its coal fired Genoa #3 generation plant located in Genoa, Wisconsin, in mid to late 2021.  Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services, an electric distribution member of Dairyland, receives 100% of its power supply from the Dairyland generation assets.  PPCS was previously aware of this decision and provided input through their seat on the Dairyland board of directors. The Genoa #3 station, a coal-fired plant, has been in service for over 50 years.  The plant will continue to operate for the next couple of years until coal supplies are diminished.
