Operation Round Up®Grants Give Support to Local Non-Profits

Ellsworth, WI – Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS) members are helping local programs through the co-op’s Operation Round Up program. Grants were approved in the amount of $1,500 each for four organizations at the cooperative’s January 2 board meeting:  Our Neighbor’s Place for food and gas purchases for community members in need; Basics for Local Kids, Inc., for winter outer wear for local children in need; Pierce County Veteran Services, for assistance with purchase of a van for the transportation program; Free Clinic of Pierce and St. Croix Counties, for program support.

“These grants show how diverse the needs are in our local communities,” said Nate Boettcher, PPCS’ president and CEO.  “Through these donations, citizens spanning all ages will be impacted, and their lives improved.  We are so thankful for the generosity of our members who participate in Operation Round Up.”

Operation Round Up provides charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations that offer programs and support projects to enhance the quality of life for those within the communities served by the cooperative.  It is funded by participating Pierce Pepin members who round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar each month or donate a specific dollar amount.

Operation Round Up grants are awarded quarterly by the Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services board of directors. Nonprofit organizations interested in applying may visit www.piercepepin.coop or call 800-924-2133 for information. The next application deadline is March 15.
