In March 2018, PPCS bylaws were updated to create a new process for nominating director candidates.  The nomination by petition process begins this November for the election in March 2019.

The cooperative’s service territory is divided into nine districts represented by a director residing in that district.  Each year an election for directors is held for three of the nine districts.  In 2019, elections will be held for directors from Districts 1, 2, and 3.  An election for the District 5 director will also be held, in accordance with the cooperative bylaws’ director appointment process.  Directors are elected to serve a three-year term and a director can serve up to four consecutive three-year terms, or 12 years.

PPCS is currently seeking director candidates for Districts 1, 2, 3, and 5.  In accordance with cooperative bylaws, the nominations of candidates for director will be done by a petition process.  Members who would like to be on the ballot for a director position must complete a petition nomination form signed by no less than 10 members from the director district in which the director is to be elected. Nomination petition forms can be requested by contacting the cooperative at 715-273-4355.  The completed petition nomination form must be delivered to PPCS headquarters by December 21, 2018.

We have scheduled an informational session, “The Power to Make a Difference”, at PPCS headquarters on October 23, 2018 at 6:30 p.m.  We encourage you to attend “The Power to Make a Difference” session to gain valuable insight into the director duties: training and education geared to the cooperative utility business; representing cooperative members’ interests; director’s commitment of time; and engaging to make a real contribution to the membership and community.  These, and many other topics, will be discussed and reviewed at the informational session, as well as the petition nomination process.

While it is not required to attend “The Power to Make a Difference” session to request a petition nomination form, we believe that the information provided will be beneficial to those interested in a director position.  If you plan to attend, please contact Charity Lubich at 715-273-4355, ext. 151, or clubich@piercepepin.coop.  We hope you will join us on October 23, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. to learn more about becoming a director for Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services.
