Donna Constant is Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services’ Live Better Community Service Award winner for the first quarter of 2022. Constant received the award and a $100 Visa® gift card on March 2 for her generous work volunteering in the Ellsworth community.

In nominating Constant, Audrey Severson said, “Donna is a volunteer with high energy and organization plus. She is constantly thinking what she could do to make things better.”

Constant has been very active in the local community. She has maintained the Our Savior’s ball field for use by church softball league players. She recruits churches to participate, creates the summer schedule and runs a snack stand, including pies. She managed to get an electronic scoreboard for games, bleachers for the public, and playground equipment for families to enjoy during games. She is now raising funds to install a well to make the park more usable for the public. This little ballpark in a rural area is also used by passersby as a rest stop, for family reunions and for families to practice ball skills with their kids.

Constant has also created COVID Sanity Pails for the Hudson Hospital containing activities, magazines, and puzzles to help patients pass the time while hospitalized. She visits church and neighborhood homebound with cookie trays at Christmas after making dozens of cookies and candies. She visits homebound at other times to offer rides or bring a treat. She donates snacks for the Red Cross Blood Mobile every time they come to town. She also brings treats to the Assisted Living Facility.

In her spare time, Constant spends time with her grandchildren who have very busy lives. She enjoys making candy and lots of pies for orders that come in. She also enjoys puzzles, crafts and spending time with family and friends.

“Her generous, thoughtful heart has touched many people in the Ellsworth area,” said Severson. “She is very worthy of this award.”

Congratulations, Donna, and thank you for using your talents to make a difference in our community!
