Mike and Deb Wilson have been named the Live Better Community Service Award recipients for the fourth quarter of 2023. Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services presented the award to the Wilsons on December 13. They received the award and a $100 MasterCard® gift card for their generous work with the Funsters of Ellsworth.
In nominating the Wilsons, Kristin Pronschinske said, “Mike and Deb Wilson are active members of the Funsters of Ellsworth where they both take charge in lining up our parade schedules for clowning, among many other activities they do for the Funsters. They're always ready to help the Funsters and the Ellsworth community every chance they can get.” Mike and Deb also host "Our Haunting Off Piety," where they decorate their home and lawn to have a haunting trail experience for local kids. “When Mike and Deb talk about this huge event,” said Pronschinske, “they have smiles on their faces and say it's all about the kids! Mike and Deb are well deserving of this award!”
In addition to their volunteer work with the Funsters, the Wilsons act as Santa and Mrs. Claus for several events in town. They’ve even started getting the next generations involved with volunteering, having their grandkids participate with them in parades, and getting local teenagers to dress up and assist with their Halloween haunting trail experience as role players.
“Being on the giving side and seeing the smiles,” said Mike, “Makes it all worthwhile.”
Congratulations, Mike and Deb, and thank you for using your talents to make a difference in our community!
