Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS) is proud to announce the winners of its annual Electrical Safety Poster Contest. This year, students from across the region submitted an impressive collection of creative and informative posters highlighting the importance of electrical safety. The contest is run jointly with the Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association (WECA).

First Place: Melody Anderson, a third grader from Ellsworth Elementary School, impressed the judges with her vibrant and educational poster warning not to play with electricity. Anderson received a $40 gift card from PPCS and a $25 gift card from WECA for her first-place finish. Her poster was also entered in the statewide contest hosted by WECA, where she placed third, receiving a $75 gift card for that prize.

Second Place: Austin Koplos, a third grader from St. Joseph Parish School, created a detailed illustration on safety around outlets, not putting cords under rugs, staying at least 35 feet away from downed lines, and keeping electrical items away from water. For his second-place finish, Koplos received a $30 gift card from PPCS.

Third Place: Clara Church, a third grader from Pepin Elementary School, showed her artistic talent with a poster that contrasted the dos and don’ts surrounding electricity and electrical equipment. For third place, Church received a $25 gift card from PPCS.

Ten students were also selected as runners-up, each receiving a $10 gift card.  The three teachers whose students submitted winning posters each received a $50 gift card to purchase classroom supplies:  Kendyl Horn (Ellsworth Elementary), Mackenze Rohl (St. Joseph Parish School), and Jill Auth (Pepin Elementary).  PPCS employees voted to select the winners. The posters were judged primarily on their safety message and the quality of artwork, color, and overall impact. The winning posters will be displayed at Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services' headquarters during the annual Member Appreciation Breakfast in October.

"We are thrilled to see the enthusiasm and understanding of electrical safety from our young participants," said Charity Lubich, PPCS vice president of member relations and human resources. "Their efforts in spreading awareness about electrical safety are commendable, and we look forward to continuing this tradition annually."

Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services thanks all participants, teachers, and parents for their support and dedication to promoting electrical safety. For more information about the contest, please visit Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services' website.
