Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS), is teaming up with St. Croix Electric Co-Op, the Office of Sustainability at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and nonprofit Hope for Creation to host the third annual Powered by Electricity event on Saturday, Sept. 23, for western Wisconsin residents.
Powered by Electricity is a free, family-friendly community event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the auditorium and parking lot of North Hall on the UWRF campus. The event will feature an electric vehicle showcase and test drives with EV drivers sharing their experiences in roundtables. In addition, there will be presentations from subject matter experts in the fields of solar power, energy efficiency rebates and incentives, and the EPA’s electric school bus program. There will also be electric tools and equipment demonstrations, kids’ activities, and a hot dog/brat/vegan chili stand supporting the St. Croix Valley Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). Visitors can also enter prize drawings for electric equipment.
“This is a great opportunity for people to come together and gain knowledge about rapidly changing technology in electrified transportation, tools, and equipment, and generating power at home using solar,” said David Chavie, PPCS manager of energy innovation and operational technology. “Attendees can speak directly to experienced EV owners and learn how the new vehicles perform.”
