Amy Viellieux Presented Live Better Community Service Award
Ellsworth, WI – Amy Viellieux is Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services’ Live Better Community Service Award winner. She received the award and a $100 Visa® gift card on October 30 for her selfless volunteer work through St. Croix Valley Restorative Justice and Narcotics-Anonymous.  Viellieux began volunteering at St. Croix Valley Restorative Justice (SCVRJ) in September 2014.  She currently speaks at SCVRJ at least twice a month and is passionate about using her life experiences to help prevent others from making destructive choices.  She has gone into several prisons to tell her story, as well as chaired local Narcotics Anonymous meetings.  Click here to read more.

Operation Round Up® Grants Stock Pierce and Pepin County Food Shelves
Ellsworth, WI
 – Members of Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services are helping stock Pierce and Pepin County food shelves through the co-op’s Operation Round Up program. Eight food pantries were each awarded $1,200 at the board’s October meeting—Pierce County Food Pantry, Elmwood Food Pantry, Plum City Food Pantry, Prescott Area Food Shelf, River Falls Food Pantry, Spring Valley Community Food Pantry, Pepin County Food Pantry and Pepin-Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran-Food Pantry. The donations were presented to pantry representatives during the regional Hunger Prevention Council meeting on October 25.  Click here to read more.

Pierce Pepin Sponsors Local Vets on Freedom Honor Flight
Ellsworth, WI
 – Freedom Honor Flight held its 20th mission on September 17, 2017. The flight carried veterans along with volunteer guardians and a medical crew to Washington, D.C., giving the veterans the opportunity to visit the memorials that stand in their honor.  Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services donated $1,000 to this flight in honor of their service. Their names are kept confidential by the Freedom Honor Flight organization for privacy reasons.  Click here to read more ...

Yvonne DeGross Presented Live Better Community Service Award
Ellsworth, WI
– Yvonne DeGross is Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services’ Live Better Community Service Award winner. She received the award and a $100 Visa® gift card on June 20 for her selfless volunteer work on behalf of senior citizens in the Spring Valley community.Since February 2016, DeGross has been providing transportation for elderly citizens every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  She brings them to the senior meals program at Spring Valley Seniors Staying Put.  Click here to read more ...

Pierce Pepin marks Arbor Day with tree donations to area students
Ellsworth, WI – To celebrate Arbor Day, Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services delivered more than 960 evergreen tree seedlings to 4th grade students within the Durand, Ellsworth, Elmwood, Pepin, Plum City, Prescott, River Falls and Spring Valley school districts throughout the week. Each student, through a partnership with Fourth Grade Foresters USA, received an individually packaged seedling with instructions and safety tips for planting and caring for their tree.  Click here to read more ...

Ellsworth, WI – More than 290 members and guests attended Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services’ 80th annual meeting on March 25, 2017, at the Ellsworth High School. Roger Wiff, Chairman of the Board, presided over the meeting. Dave Klein Presented Live Better Community Service Award

– Dave Klein is Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services’ Live Better Community Service Award winner. He received the award and $100 in Visa® gift cards on January 5 for his selfless volunteer work on behalf of the Pepin County community.  Klein has been an active leader in 4H and is involved in coordinating 4H activities in Pepin County.  He is also a youth leader and is on the Pepin County leader board.  Klein serves on the Pepin County Fair organization committee and is involved in coordinating entertainment, demonstrations and other fair activities.  Click here to learn more ...

 – Ron Campbell is Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services’ Live Better Community Service Award winner. Area Students Sharpen Leadership Skills at YLC
River Falls, WI
 – Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS) was proud to sponsor area high school students to the Youth Leadership Congress (YLC) at the UW-River Falls campus. Pierce Pepin crews restore power
Ellsworth, Wis.
– Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services experienced extensive power outages as a result of the July 5 storm that rolled through the region.  At the height of the storm, approximately 1900 consumers were without power.   The storm, with damaging winds, rain and five confirmed tornadoes across western Wisconsin, hit Pierce County in the early evening on July 5.  By 11 o’clock that evening, PPCS declared an emergency and began calling in crews from neighboring cooperatives to assist in the restoration of power. Pierce Pepin marks 13th year of National Child ID Program
Ellsworth, Wis. – Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS), a Touchstone Energy® cooperative, completed its 13th year of bringing the National Child ID Program to elementary schools in Pierce and Pepin counties. By teaming up with local law enforcement officials, 699 Kindergarten or first grade students were fingerprinted this school year through this community service initiative.  To read more, click here.

Mattingly awarded electrical line worker scholarship
Plum City, Wis.
– Aaron Mattingly, a senior at Plum City High School, was awarded a $1,000 electrical line worker scholarship from Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services during Plum City High School’s awards ceremony on May 4.  To qualify, Mattingly submitted an essay on “Why I want to become a lineman”. Andrew Bennett Presented Live Better Community Service Award
Ellsworth, WI
– Andrew Bennett is the recipient of the Live Better Community Service Award, given quarterly by Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services. He was presented the award and a $100 Visa® check card on April 1 for his volunteer work on behalf of the Ellsworth community. Bennett has been a member of the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce and the Ellsworth Lions Club since 2010, and currently serves as a director on the boards for both organizations. He has also been a member of the Ellsworth School Foundation for the past two years. As a Chamber member/director, Bennett volunteered in 2015 to water the hanging flower baskets that adorn Ellsworth’s Main Street in late spring, summer and early fall.  Click here to read more ...

Hessler Completes Apprenticeship, Earns Journey Status
Ellsworth, Wis.
– Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services employee, Jordan Hessler, recently graduated from a four-year indentured lineworker apprentice program offered through Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire.  Hessler was one of 19 apprentices from utilities around Wisconsin who completed the apprenticeship program and received certificates on January 26, 2016, at the Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin/Rural Electric Cooperatives Joint Superintendent’s Conference in Wisconsin Dells.  Click here to read more ...

– Employees of Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS) are making this Christmas merry for a Pierce County family through the Gift Box Program.Participating employees chose ornaments from the co-op’s Gift Box tree, with each ornament listing a gift item for individual family members. Huber Achieves Credentials in Utility Competencies

Ginny Huber, a board member with Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services, was recognized by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) for her commitment to education, earning the Credentialed Cooperative Director (CCD) certificate. – Meet Mary Joan Sutton, the first recipient of the Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services Live Better Community Service Award. She was presented the award on October 7 for her volunteer work as a founding member and the board president of Our Neighbors’ Place.  Located in River Falls, Wis., Our Neighbors’ Place has provided shelter and support services to individuals and families of Pierce and St. Croix counties dealing with homelessness since 2009. Click here to read more ...

Pierce Pepin considers community solar for members

Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services is exploring member interest in a community solar initiative to install 100 kilowatts of solar generation at its property located about 1/8 mile south of its headquarters along Highway 63. The “Live Better with Community Solar” project would provide cooperative members the opportunity to purchase affordable solar renewable energy without the barriers associated with owning and maintaining their own systems. Obstacles like upfront costs, poor location, improper roof orientation or structural issues, excessive shading, and local restrictions are often difficulties faced by homeowners who want to install solar systems.  Click here to read more ...
