Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services Grants Support Education Programs
Ellsworth, WI –Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services provided grants totaling $4,000 to three organizations supporting education in its service territory:   Ellsworth Elementary School Positive Solutions class; FORWARD RF River Falls Public School Foundation; and Friends of Freedom Park.  Each grantee will use the funds for programs, supplies or projects that enhance educational opportunities for youth in our region. Martin Receives Live Better Community Service Award
Ellsworth, WI – JoAnn Martin is Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services’ Live Better Community Service Award winner for the second quarter of 2019. Martin was presented the award and a $100 Visa® gift card on May 16 for her selfless work as a volunteer at Our Neighbors’ Place in River Falls, Wis. Martin has volunteered every Thursday for the past 10 years, providing haircuts to the guests of Our Neighbors’ Place free of charge.  Read more ...

Operation Round Up® Grants Support Broad Community Services

 – Members of Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services are helping support a broad array of community services through the co-op’s Operation Round Up program. Five organizations were each awarded $1,000 in April:  Spring Valley Seniors Staying Put, Durand and Lund Fire Departments, Pierce County Friends of the Fair, and Pierce County Veterans Services.  Read more ...

Ellsworth, WI – More than 270 members and guests attended Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services’ 82nd annual meeting on March 23, 2019, at the Ellsworth High School. Roger Wiff, Chairman of the Board, presided over the meeting.
The theme Powerfully Connected was reflected throughout the meeting in the director candidates’ speeches, the reports and presentations.  Read more ...

Operation Round Up® Grants Give Support for Diverse Needs
Ellsworth, WI
 – Members of Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services are helping local programs through the co-op’s Operation Round Up program. Grants were approved for three organizations at the cooperative’s January 3 board meeting:  Assistance and Resource Center, Inc. (ARC), $2,000 for housing and transportation needs; Have a Heart, Inc., $3,000 for assistance to purchase a handicapped accessible vehicle; Basics for Local Kids, Inc., $3,000 for winter outer wear for local children in need.  Read more ...

Operation Round Up® Grants Stock Pierce and Pepin County Food Shelves
Ellsworth, WI
– Members of Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services are helping stock Pierce and Pepin County food shelves through the co-op’s Operation Round Up program. Eight food pantries were each awarded $1,500 at the board’s October meeting—Pierce County Food Pantry, Elmwood Food Pantry, Plum City Food Pantry, Prescott Area Food Shelf, River Falls Food Pantry, Spring Valley Community Food Pantry, Pepin County Food Pantry and Pepin-Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran-Food Pantry. The donations were presented to pantry representatives during the regional Hunger Prevention Council meeting on October 17.  Read more ...

Area Students Sharpen Leadership Skills at YLC
Ellsworth, Wis
. - Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services (PPCS) was proud to sponsor area high school students to the Youth Leadership Congress (YLC) at the UW-River Falls campus on July 25-27, 2018. Six area students joined about 100 other teens from Wisconsin for the event.  
Understanding the cooperative difference and identifying traits of leaders were just two of the topics to highlight the 55th  YLC. Students participated in team-building exercises, leadership workshops, learning sessions, and presentations on cooperative history, organization and principles. Attendees learned about the basics of cooperatives and how they can apply the ideals and philosophies of cooperation directly to their everyday lives. These young leaders also got a taste of campus life, made new friends and heard firsthand how they can make a positive impact in their schools and communities.  Click here to read more ...

Hinshaw Presented Live Better Community Service Award
Ellsworth, WI – Mary Hinshaw is Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services’ Live Better Community Service Award winner for the third quarter of 2018. Hinshaw received the award and a $100 Visa® gift card on July 10 for her generous work as a volunteer with Spring Valley Seniors Staying Put.  Hinshaw has been a volunteer with “Staying Put” since April of 2016.  She regularly brings people to Staying Put for meals, delivers Meals on Wheels every Friday, and takes Staying Put clients shopping out of town.  She is a dedicated volunteer who has developed friendships with those she serves.  Click here to read more ...

Pierce Pepin marks Arbor Day with tree donations to area students
Ellsworth, WI – To celebrate Arbor Day, Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services delivered more than 895 evergreen tree seedlings to 4th grade students within the Durand, Ellsworth, Elmwood, Pepin, Plum City, Prescott, River Falls and Spring Valley school districts throughout the week. Each student, through a partnership with Fourth Grade Foresters USA, received an individually packaged Norway Spruce seedling with instructions and safety tips for planting and caring for their tree.  Click here to read more ...

McDonnell Presented Live Better Community Service Award
Ellsworth, WI
– Max McDonnell is Pierce Pepin Cooperative Services’ Live Better Community Service Award winner for the second quarter of 2018. McDonnell received the award and a $100 Visa® gift card on March 29 for his generous work as a volunteer driver for the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Pierce County.  McDonnell has been a volunteer driver for ADRC for over 14 years, using his own vehicle to provide transportation for older people and adults with disabilities who are unable to drive to medical appointments.  He provides rides to people throughout Pierce County to clinics near and far ensuring that they get the medical treatment they need.  McDonnell has picked up passengers as early as 5:00 a.m. and returned home as late as 10:00 p.m.   Click here to read more ...
